The crowd goes wild in anticipation for the start of the Chuunin as the Hokage is informed that Sasuke still is nowhere to be found. They have several ANBU teams searching for him, but fear he may be with Orochimaru. Soon, Kazekage arrives and takes his seat next to the Hokage. Sarcastically, he comments on the Hokage's age and how he may want to choose a Fifth soon. The Third laughs it off, joking that he still has at least 5 more years within him.
The seven Chuunin candidates soon learn that there is a new matchup and that Shikamaru's previously assigned opponent, Dosu, is no longer in the tournament. Sasuke still has not shown up, and is informed that if he doesn't show up before his match, he will lose by default. Also interested in Sasuke's whereabouts, Baki wonders whether perhaps Gaara already killed him.
Gemma explains the rules of the Chuunin. Matches will only end when someone dies or gives up. However, he does reserve the right to step in and stop the match if he feels it is over. First up: Neji vs. Naruto, as the crowd whispers amongst themselves how Naruto doesn't stand a chance. Still, Kiba and Hinata join the crowd to cheer Naruto on.
On the floor, Naruto again vows to beat Neji. Neji byakugans to learn that Naruto has complete and unhesitant confidence in his abilities, and believes this will be a good match. They begin to fight as Hiashi and Hanabi watch from the crowd. Hiashi explains to his daughter that Neji is the strongest of the Hyuuga bloodline - stronger than her or Hinata.
Much to the dismay of Naruto's Genin friends, he immediately charges Neji to engage in close up hand to hand combat. Sakura and Ino are the first to remember Kakashi's explanation of how Neji can see tenketsu and will try to stop Naruto's chakra with every chance he gets in. It doesn't take Naruto long to realize this as well and soon he does Kage Bunshin to create 4 clones of himself. With each clone having equally distributed chakra, even Neji can't tell the clones from the real Naruto.
Soon, all clones are attacking Naruto, but Neji defends and takes out two clones in the process. He then taunts that Naruto will never become Hokage. Everything is predetermined at birth and only a chosen few will become Hokage. It's not a position you can just be because you want to. There is only one fate that each humans possess and that is death. From above, Hiashi realizes that Neji still curses the Head family...
Naruto vows that he won't give up and again performs Kage Bunshin.
