Uzumaki Naruto 62 - Dropout's Hidden Power!
Neji confidently guarantees that Naruto will lose to him in this match. Naruto retorts that fate does not dictate one's outcome. Neji then strikes Naruto hard, and he drops to the ground. Wearily, Naruto refuses to stay down or take back his words, giving Neji a sense of deja vu as he reiterates Hinata's last words in the match. Naruto continues - a coward blames everything on fate. Neji tells him he knows nothing. People are born carrying an unchanging fate.
Still, Neji remembers the last words of his father, who told him to live and to continue training. He was more talented than any other Hyuuga. As he continues, Naruto focuses on unleashing Kyubi's powers. He assures Neji he knows what it's like to suffer and want someone to acknowledge you. Hinata fought for that very reason. In fact, Naruto is certain that Neji's reasons for fighting full force with Hinata lie in that he was also fighting his own fate.
Again, Naruto concentrates, remembering a similar feeling of chakra absence during Jiraiya's training. The fox awakens and soon, the nine tails unleashes a powerful flow of orange-red chakra that surrounds Naruto in Super Saiyan style. After powering up, Naruto attacks.
The two opponents fight hard. Neji uses his defense whirl while Naruto tosses shurikans. They then fight with kunai on equal footing. Naruto then charges Neji at full force. He vows he will become Hokage. Saying something is impossible without trying to accomplish it leads nowhere. Once he becomes the Hokage, he will change the Hyuuga fate. As Naruto and Neji collide, a huge explosion rocks the building. When the smoke clears, Neji pulls himself out of the hole created and to his feet to investigate an unconscious Naruto lying in the other ditch. TenTen explains that Nehi's whirl works by rotating his body and parrying his enemy's attack. Since he charged in head on, it appears that Naruto suffered more damage. Everyone is impressed with the effort Naruto put into the match, but Neji appears to be victorious.
As Neji gets in one last word about how fate controls one's destiny, the real Naruto pulls himself out of the ground and uppercuts him to end the match. Neji understands now. The Naruto lying motionless was only a clone that Naruto used to disguise his plan to dig his way to victory. Gemma is impressed. Naruto was clearly beaten, but he believed in himself and in his ability to win, so he kept thinking of a next move. The power to believe in himself is what changes fate.
Neji lies beaten before a victorious Naruto. He finds it ironic that he was beaten by Naruto's favorite technique - Kage Bunshin. Naruto explains that he failed 3 times at the academy because they consistently made him perform the technique he most sucked at. Now that he can do it well, he does and enjoys it. He then tells Neji to stop bitching about his own fate and do something to change it. He's different from Naruto - he's not a dropout.
